Google Launches Google Vids, an AI-Powered Tool for Creating Videos from Text Descriptions and Drive Documents

En Dirgaswara – Google has once again unveiled an innovative feature aimed at simplifying video content creation for its users. On Friday, November 8, 2024, the tech giant officially launched Google Vids, an AI-powered tool designed for Google Workspace subscribers.
This new feature allows users to automatically create videos using text descriptions and files uploaded to Google Drive, such as Google Docs documents.

Google Vids is built to streamline the video creation process, whether for marketing, business presentations, employee training, or tutorials.

Powered by the advanced Gemini AI model, the tool generates videos based on user-provided descriptions and uploaded files, including images and videos.

This feature is expected to benefit users by enabling high-quality video production without requiring advanced video editing skills.

How Google Vids Works

Creating videos with Google Vids is a straightforward process thanks to its user-friendly interface. Upon accessing the feature, users are greeted by a “Help me create” window, which divides the screen into two main sections: a description field and a selection of visual design templates.

Users can simply type a description of the video they want to create, such as “Create a summary video of Gen Z market research,” and then link a file from Google Drive to be used in the video.

After clicking the “Create” button, Google Vids quickly converts the input into a structured video outline, complete with a script, stock videos, images, background music, and other visual elements matching the chosen design.

Users can further customize the video outline, edit the text, or add their own visual elements, giving them full control over the final product.

AI Voiceover and Personal Narration

One of Google Vids’ standout features is its ability to add AI-generated voiceovers. Users can select from AI voices to narrate the video script generated by the system, providing a professional touch without the need for manual voice recording.

For those who prefer a personal touch, Google Vids also offers the option to record their own narration. The built-in teleprompter displays the video script, making it easy for users to record their voices while staying on track. Using the virtual recording studio, users can also upload personal photos and videos to enhance the video content.

Real-Time Collaboration for Teams

Like other Google applications, Google Vids supports real-time collaboration. Users can work together on video projects, edit, and refine the content simultaneously, much like Google Docs or Google Sheets.

This collaborative feature is particularly useful for businesses that require teamwork to produce marketing videos, presentations, or training materials.

How Google Vids Stands Out from Competitors

Compared to other AI-based video creation tools such as Meta Movie Gen and OpenAI Sora, Google Vids takes a different approach.

Rather than creating videos entirely from scratch, it focuses on assembling slideshows using existing media like images, videos, and text. It then structures these media elements into a cohesive video based on the uploaded document content.

This approach provides flexibility for users who want to create videos without starting from scratch, simplifying the process while still producing visually appealing and structured videos.

Available for Google Workspace Subscribers

Google Vids is currently available to Google Workspace subscribers under various plans, including Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Standard, and more.

Subscriptions start at $8 per month (approximately IDR 125,422), giving users access to this tool as part of their existing package.

With its efficient and innovative capabilities, Google Vids has the potential to revolutionize how businesses and individuals create video content, especially for those with limited time or technical skills.

This tool not only saves time but also empowers anyone to produce high-quality videos with ease. As part of the Google Workspace ecosystem, it offers added value, such as real-time collaboration, to support productivity and creativity in today’s modern workplace.
